Introduction to Sacred Sexuality

with Steve Torma

After our survival instinct, sexual energy is the most powerful force in the human experience. It can drive us to noble and creative endeavors as well as to destructive and hurtful pursuits. We grow up in a culture with a lot of fear and shame around sexual energy, mainly due to its immense power and frequent misuse.

How do we access and guide this energy? With the heart. The energy of the heart contains and directs sexual energy so that it is a healing and transformative force. And what guides our heart? The overall spiritual purpose of our lives. When all three are combined (sex, heart, and spirit), we can live a deeply satisfying life of service to our ultimate vision.

Join us for an overview of ideas and practices for improving our physical and emotionally-intimate relationships.

Cuddle Party

A cuddle party is a non-sexual, space to share friendship, nurturing touch, and emotional intimacy. This playful workshop includes talking about some basic communication and intimacy skills. Registration is limited to the first 20 people. RSVP required. For more about cuddle parties, visit www.cuddleparty.com.

Art of Intimacy Practice Group

How many people do you have in your life that you can talk to– about anything– without scaring or pushing them away? How many relationships have you been in where you could be really honest– about everything– with your partner? For most of us, the answer in both cases is maybe one or two. Yet good relationships are much of what makes life worthwhile. True friendships, close relationships, and real community are all built on knowing yourself, sharing yourself, and really hearing other people. These are not skills we are born with; we have to learn them.

Join us for an ongoing weekly communication and intimacy skills practice group, drawing from the work of Brad Blanton (Radical Honesty), Marshal Rosenberg (Non-violent Communication), Susan Campbell (Getting Real), Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks (Conscious Loving), John Bradshaw (Homecoming) and others. Topics include: distinguishing between one’s thoughts and feelings, moving through fear, the power of vulnerability, and more.

Each night we will focus on a particular topic and learn basic ideas and practice skills related to that topic. Participants will be encouraged to give examples from their own life and explore how these ideas and practices can improve their relationships.

Participants are invited to attend any or all evenings. There is no minimum commitment.
